Well, I got this far.  When I started, I wasn't even real code, I was just a perl hack.  Some users in home decided they wanted a real driver, so they formed a use-group, and they said "You're right, we need a driver."  Then they sat down and wrote me out and distributed my source.  And I became some code, and I'll remain some code until the compiler decides I'm alright.

Yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones.  Most code never even gets this far.  I hope I compile quite readily, otherwise I may crash.

Yeah, crash in compilation.  Ooh, but it looks like I'm compiling!  Now I go to the operating system, and it tries to run me.

You mean even if the compiler says you should run, the CPU can still explode?

Yes, that's called a fault.  If the CPU faults me, I have to go back to coding and they write me again, and by that time you're so old...
