Living in Connecticut now. Big change. I must say - people in Texas, at least the moderate-to-large sized cities, have some seriously different customs. Make eye contact here and mothers hide their children behind them.

I went to germany this summer, and if you make eye contact and smile at someone, they think you'll try to sell them something.

and all the world shed tears for Balder. The messengers were happy and on the way home met a giantess- "and all the sorrow of the world was turned to futility, for she refused to weep." And thus Happiness died at the hands of Loki

lol. Here they think you're going to murder them or something. The guys dressed like thugs will move off the sidewalk, and a big brawny guy with a mohawk averted his eyes and paid close attention to a display.

And people seem startled if you smile or say hello.

It's quite entertaining.

Welcome to the east coast. Are you near New York City? Sounds like NYC behavior.

What are you doing in Connecticut? Did you find a job?

Brother found a job, so I followed him up here. And, apparently, there is a huge demand for IT people here. (Sigh. Didn't REALLY want to live on the East Coast.)

Yeah, fairly close to NYC - it's about an hour and a half away. A little closer than Dallas used to be, and, I believe, a straight shot by train. I'll hafta try that.

But you like snow, right? So stay for an east coast winter, at least.
